We're all devastated to say that we have some very sad news to report...
Maurice "Fingers" Armstrong has sadly died at Peterborough District Hospital.
Mo was of course one of the founder members of Hooker, without whom it would never have happened
He died from a heart attack on Monday 24th March 2003, following a 3 week stay in P.D.H.
He had been in hospital for treatment on his leg ulcers, and had improved to the point that he was about to be discharged. Suddenly, he had a heart attack unexpectedly.
Mo's funeral service was held on Thurs April 3rd at Christ Church in Orton Centre. The Church was filled with family members, friends and work colleagues. Mo's brother David and his wife, and his son Martin and his family were amongst the mourners. There was an address from Martin read out by the vicar, and a tribute from Rob Pincham, which he read himself before we all went to the Crematorium to say our final farewell to Mo.
Personally speaking, the most emotional moment came when Mo's all-time favourite tune was played at the church.
He had said to me many years ago, that if I had anything to do with his funeral, could I make sure that "Music (was my first love)" by John Miles was played for him. I was both upset, and honoured in equal measure to have carried out his wish. If only it could have been in another 20 years or so..
You will be very sadly missed Mo, rest in peace mate, rest in peace.
( And stop tapping those f***ing sticks!!! )
